Like LNG (Liquified Natural Gas), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is methane (CH4).
Its use entails the same environmental advantages:
Since the mid-1980s, CNG has been produced by compressing to 250 bars the natural gas from the supply grid network.
A CNG distribution station comprises compressors, a buffer stock of variable size, and distributors.
Fill-up is accomplished either:
A vehicular fuel —natural gas for vehicles (NGV)— since its origin, CNG applies to vehicles traveling small distances (250 to 300 km) and thus to be dedicated to fleets of local agencies (buses, dump trucks for household waste) or short-haul shippers.
With the 2014 French regulation approving LNG vehicles, truck operators can now use either type of natural gas.
AXEGAZ thus offers two sorts of gas stations:
